Choir Director - Part time paid position

Location: Alexandria, Virginia, USA
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is seeking a qualified part time (average 7 hours/week, Labor Day through Pentecost) choir director to lead the chancel choir.
Qualifications include: Knowledge of choral music suitable for traditional services covering all eras from the 16th century to present.  Experience in directing and rehearsing choirs and other musicians.  Proficient at reading and sight reading music. Strong vocal skills required, strong keyboard skills sufficient to accompanying the choir during rehearsals. Ability to select choral music appropriate to the Church year and choir ability. Ability to listen, communicate, interact, understand and relate confidently with the Pastor, lay staff, and members of the congregation.
Responsibilities include: Weekly choir rehearsal and short rehearsal pre-service. Plan and select choral music and anthems appropriate for each season of the Church year for one traditional Sunday service currently held at 11:00 a.m. and with choral or special music presented once a month at the second traditional Sunday service, currently held at 8:30 a.m.  Preparation and provision of choral music for the following additional services during the year: Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, weekly Lenten Services, Holy Week, Easter and Thanksgiving. Maintain sheet music library. Work with the Pastor and organist, contemporary worship music leader, Christian Education director and the Worship and Music Ministry to explore opportunities for collaboration between the traditional and contemporary music programs and pursue joint programs as artistic requirements and budgetary constraints allow. 
Compensation: 6-8K annually depending upon experience. Paid time off and continuing educational benefits.
