Contemporary Worship Music Leader - Part time paid position

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is seeking a qualified part time (average 7 hours/week) contemporary worship music leader.
Qualifications include: Experience in directing other musicians (critical). Proficient at reading music. Possess strong skills at sight reading music that may be used in contemporary worship. Strong keyboard and vocal skills in a variety of musical genres. Strong knowledge of traditional Christian hymns and contemporary Christian music and songs. Ability to be flexible and creative in meeting the congregation’s need for a vibrant contemporary worship service. Ability to listen, communicate, interact, understand and relate confidently with the Pastor, lay staff, and members of the congregation.
Responsibilities include: Lead all aspects of musical performance at the contemporary worship service. Make certain that all musicians have the appropriate music for rehearsals, services and special events. Work with the Pastor, Coordinator of Education Ministries and other worship leaders to select music appropriate for the contemporary worship service; planning the service structure; and addressing any other service-related topics. In general, help to create meaningful, uplifting services that actively engage participants. Be responsive to necessary changes as services approach. Actively participate as a member of the Worship and Music Ministry and any relevant subgroup in working with the Pastor to enhance the worship life of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Lead congregational participation in singing at the contemporary worship service supporting efforts to increase attendance at the contemporary worship service. Ensure that by each Thursday morning the church’s administrative assistant has all the information needed to prepare that week’s contemporary worship service bulletin (such as song names and numbers, lyrics, inserts, etc.)
Compensation: 8-10K annually depending upon experience. Paid time off and continuing educational benefits.
